Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a severely painful and disabling disease for which a multitude of therapeutic interventions have been proposed. In the past two decades, only Bisphosphonates gained credibility. In recent years, more convincing evidence has become available on the use of Parenteral Neridronate. Since 2014, this drug is registered and marketed in Italy for the treatment of CRPS. To date, the only therapeutic schedule that is recognized to be able to confer benefit is the intravenous (IV) administration of 100 mg given 4 times.

Daily Report

DAY 1: Arrival at the Venice airport, greeted by his Patient Manager, followed by check-in at his Hotel in Verona. Briefing focused on the next days.

DAY 2: Rest day in the hotel, in contact with his Patient Manager.

DAY 3: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 1st visit with the Rheumatologist Professor, 1st Rehabilitation session, and 1st infusions.

DAY 4: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 2nd infusions.

DAY 5: Rest day in the hotel, in contact with his Patient Manager.

DAY 6: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 2nd Rehabilitation session and 3rd infusions.

DAY 7: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 3rd Rehabilitation session, 4th infusions and 2nd visit with the Rheumatologist Professor.

DAY 8-9: Rest days in the hotel, in contact with his Patient Manager.

DAY 10: Pick-up by his Patient Manager, check-out, and drop-off at the Verona train station, as the patient has planned a trip around Italy for the next 2 weeks.

Follow up

JANUARY 2020 (3 months after Neridronate treatment): The patient refers to his pain changing, saying the type of pain feels different, which is completely normal after the Neridronate treatment. He says the burning sensation has gone less aggressive.

MARCH 2020 (5 months after Neridronate treatment): Patient is slowly gaining his strength back in both arms, he says he would place his pain level at 6/10.

JUNE 2020 (8 months after Neridronate treatment): Patient put his pain level at 4/10 and is incredibly grateful for treatment. The extreme sensitivity that was present on his arms has now reduced by 80%, according to the patient.

Conclusion

Neridronate taking care of the root issue of CRPS, it not only helps with the pain, but also on the other symptoms. As it is the case with this patient, who suffered from a very high sensitivity to touch, weather change and vibrations. Post-treatment, that sensitivity had gone down 80%, as well as a 50% improvement of pain level.
