Why the Patient decided to undergo the CRPS Treatment in Italy

The patient had met one of our previous patients in a CRPS forum online, who told her about his experience with us and the results he had achieved. She got in touch with us and after the evaluation of her case, we organized her arrival in Italy quickly.

Medical treatment the Patient underwent in Italy

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a severely painful and disabling disease for which a multitude of therapeutic interventions have been proposed. In the past two decades, only Bisphosphonates gained credibility. In recent years, more convincing evidence has become available on the use of Parenteral Neridronate. Since 2014, this drug is registered and marketed in Italy for the treatment of CRPS. To date, the only therapeutic schedule that is recognized to be able to confer benefit is the intravenous (IV) administration of 100 mg given 4 times.

3 sessions Massotherapy Rehabilitation Treatment with Physiotherapist.

6 days Light Therapy (in hotel room, 30+ more minutes each day)

Daily Report

DAY 1: Arrival at the Venice airport, greeted by her Patient Manager, followed by check-in at her Hotel in Verona. Briefing focused on the next days.

DAY 2: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 1st visit with the Rheumatologist Professor, 1st Rehabilitation session, and 1st infusions.

DAY 3: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 2nd infusions.

DAY 4: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 2nd Rehabilitation session and 3rd infusions.

DAY 5: Rest day, in contact with her patient manager.

DAY 6: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 3rd Rehabilitation session, 4th infusions and 2nd visit with the Rheumatologist Professor.

DAY 7: Pick up from Hotel in Verona and check-in at hotel in Venice. Afternoon of tourism in Venice with her patient manager.

DAY 8: Free day in Venice with her husband.

DAY 9: Pick-up by her Patient Manager, check-out and drop-off at the Venice airport for their trip back home.

Follow up

AUGUST 2023 (3 months after Neridronate treatment): the patient refers to a slow improvement of her symptoms, putting it around 30% better than it used to be. She managed to walk for a whole hour few days before our follow up.

NOVEMBER 2023 (6 months after Neridronate treatment): the patient refers to further improvements, she says between 50 and 60% better than it was prior to the treatment. She goes for walks daily and manages to walk always a bit further and longer. She also mentions she is now able to sleep full nights without being awoken by extreme pain.

Conclusion

In cases such as this one, where the patient has suffered for over 10 years, any improvement is life changing. This woman managed to get a 50-60% improvement in pain and other symptoms, leading her to being able to sleep normally again, which has a huge impact on her daily life and mood. She mentioned she will want to try coming back in a year or so to see if she can get even further results.
