Why the Patient decided to undergo the CRPS Treatment in Italy

This patient had heard about the Italian protocol with Neridronate on a CRPS support group, and then heard about us more specifically as well as the 360° treatment plan (highly recommended to longer CRPS cases) from a previous patient of ours, of whom the clinical case was very similar to his and had seen good results from the treatment. He contacted us shortly after to organize his trip to Italy.

Medical treatment the Patient underwent in Italy

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a severely painful and disabling disease for which a multitude of therapeutic interventions have been proposed. In the past two decades, only Bisphosphonates gained credibility. In recent years, more convincing evidence has become available on the use of Parenteral Neridronate. Since 2014, this drug is registered and marketed in Italy for the treatment of CRPS. To date, the only therapeutic schedule that is recognized to be able to confer benefit is the intravenous (IV) administration of 100 mg given 4 times.

10 days Light Therapy (in hotel room, 30+ more minutes each day)
30 minutes or more of usage of the MTI Light Therapy reduces inflammation, increase micro-circulation, relax nerves and muscles, reduces pain transmission, accelerates healing, regenerates cells, and promotes cells activation.

10 nights Biophysical Treatment (5 hours each night while the patients are asleep)
MTI’s Biophysical Treatment is the outcome of 25 years of research and studies. It has been certified by the best Italian Universities, partners from both public and private teams. The Biophysical treatment acts on the roots of the disease, brings relief to the inflammatory condition, helps the cells regeneration, the oxygenation, the micro-circulation, and the lymphatic system.

Follow up

MAY 2023 (2 months after Neridronate treatment): Patient refers to an improvement of the swelling of his hand. Pain levels are still pretty high, he says he might feel a slight difference.

AUGUST 2023 (5 months after Neridronate treatment): Patient refers having had a flare a month ago, and mentioned it was much less aggressive than he is used to and lasted much less too. He says his daily pain levels have dropped about 40%.

SEPTEMBER 2023 (6 months after Neridronate treatment): The patient confirms a total improvement of symptoms of 50%.

Conclusion

CRPS is unfortunately still considered a rare disease. It is hard for patients to find information on all available treatments worldwide. If taken years before, this patient would probably have had even higher percentages of improvements. However, as mentioned by the patient himself, living with the disease for 11 years, 50% improvement of all symptoms is “what I would consider a win!”.
