Why the Patient decided to undergo the CRPS Treatment in Italy

This patient did not remember of any trauma that might have caused his CRPS. He stayed with no diagnosis for 3 years before being able to find a physician aware of the condition, and finally found the answers he was looking for all those years. He then immediately tried the various available treatments for CRPS in the States, without any noticeable improvements of his CRPS. He found out about Neridronate and our team through a Facebook group.

Medical treatment the Patient underwent in Italy

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a severely painful and disabling disease for which a multitude of therapeutic interventions have been proposed. In the past two decades, only Bisphosphonates gained credibility. In recent years, more convincing evidence has become available on the use of Parenteral Neridronate. Since 2014, this drug is registered and marketed in Italy for the treatment of CRPS. To date, the only therapeutic schedule that is recognized to be able to confer benefit is the intravenous (IV) administration of 100 mg given 4 times.

4 Clodronate infusions (100mg, I.v. in saline Solution 0,9% 250 ml)

3 sessions Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Treatment Treatment with Physiotherapist.

8 days Light Therapy (in hotel room, 30+ more minutes each day)

Daily Report

DAY 1: Arrival at the Venice airport, greeted by his Patient Manager, followed by check-in at his Hotel in Verona. Briefing focused on the next days.

DAY 2: Rest day in the hotel, in contact with his Patient Manager.

DAY 3: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 1st visit with the Rheumatologist Professor, 1st Rehabilitation session, and 1st infusions.

DAY 4: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 2nd infusions. Tourism in Verona.

DAY 5: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 2nd Rehabilitation session and 3rd infusions.

DAY 6: Rest day in the hotel, in contact with his Patient Manager.

DAY 7: Morning pick-up by his Patient Manager, 3rd Rehabilitation session, 4th infusions and 2nd visit with the Rheumatologist Professor.

DAY 8: Sightseeing in Lake Garda with his Patient Manager.

DAY 9: Pick-up by his Patient Manager, check-out, and drop-off at the Venice airport for his trip back home.

Follow up

APRIL 2023 (3 months after Neridronate treatment): The patient refers to feeling stronger in his leg, in which he had witnessed a drastic muscle loss over the years. He says the swelling has gone down, and he manages to walk a bit more day by day, still with the help of the crutches.

JUNE 2023 (5 months after Neridronate treatment): Patient has walked his first walk with no help from his crutches! He said the pain levels are often getting very low, allowing him to walk without needing the crutches. His general pain levels are around 4/10.

SEPTEMBER 2024 (8 months after Neridronate treatment): The patient refers to a standard 4-5/10 pain level, daily. He says he can no walk up to 2 hours with no help whatsoever, which has allowed him to get back to work.

Conclusion

Fighting CRPS for 15 years, and not being diagnosed for 3 of those years, our patient had had a very rough story linked to his condition. We were happy to see he managed to get a 40% improvement of all symptoms, allowing him to reduce medications taken daily, and often walk without the need of his crutches. His life-changing improvements have allowed him to get back to his workplace, from which he had separated 2 years ago.
