Why the Patient decided to undergo the CRPS Treatment in Italy

This patient had tried various treatment options in the USA, from Ketamine infusions to scrambler therapy, passing by intense pain management and physical therapy. None of these treatments had brought him acceptable results, physical therapy ended up traumatizing the patient as the physiotherapist was not aware of CRPS and how to deal with a patient affected by it. He found out about the treatment in Italy and came as soon as it was possible for him.

Medical treatment the Patient underwent in Italy

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a severely painful and disabling disease for which a multitude of therapeutic interventions have been proposed. In the past two decades, only Bisphosphonates gained credibility. In recent years, more convincing evidence has become available on the use of Parenteral Neridronate. Since 2014, this drug is registered and marketed in Italy for the treatment of CRPS. To date, the only therapeutic schedule that is recognized to be able to confer benefit is the intravenous (IV) administration of 100 mg given 4 times.

Follow up

JULY 2022 (2 months after Neridronate treatment): the patient notices the swelling of his foot has gone down, and his pain levels have dropped to 6/10 daily.

OCTOBER 2022 (5 months after Neridronate treatment): the patient refers to the swelling being completely gone, and discoloration of the lower leg not happening as often as it used to. Pain levels have dropped to 3/10.

FEBRUARY 2023 (9 months after Neridronate treatment): The patient is continuing the exercises advised by the physiotherapist he saw in Italy, his improvements are lasting, and his pain levels are around 2/3 on “bad days” and have reached 0 on most days.

This patient has seen a reduction of pain levels from 8/10 to 0/10 or 2/10 on bad days. For a 4 years case, these are amazing results to be seen. Surely, the treatment itself and the exercises indicated by our physiotherapist has helped this patient reach this kind of results regardless of the length of his CRPS battle.

This is not a medical case study; it merely describes each patient’s journey, and it omits all personal data. The people who redacted it are not doctors but all the facts reported are objective and represent the patient’s reality thanks to the information in our possession.
