Why the Patient decided to undergo the CRPS Treatment in Italy

This woman had tried about 5 different treatment plans, none of which helped with her condition. She was about to lose hope and was even talking about amputation, when she found Neridronate. She told us she wanted to come “as a last hope”, we welcomed her 2 months after.

Medical treatment the Patient underwent in Italy

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a severely painful and disabling disease for which a multitude of therapeutic interventions have been proposed. In the past two decades, only Bisphosphonates gained credibility. In recent years, more convincing evidence has become available on the use of Parenteral Neridronate. Since 2014, this drug is registered and marketed in Italy for the treatment of CRPS. To date, the only therapeutic schedule that is recognized to be able to confer benefit is the intravenous (IV) administration of 100 mg given 4 times.

3 sessions Neuromuscular Rehabilitation Treatment Treatment with Physiotherapist.

8 days Light Therapy (in hotel room, 30+ more minutes each day)

Daily Report

DAY 1: Arrival at the Venice airport, greeted by her Patient Manager, followed by check-in at her Hotel in Vicenza. Briefing focused on the next days.

DAY 2: Rest morning in the hotel, in contact with her Patient Manager. Afternoon of visiting Vicenza’s city center.

DAY 3: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 1st visit with the Rheumatologist Professor, 1st Rehabilitation session, and 1st infusions.

DAY 4: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 2nd infusions. Touring in Verona.

DAY 5: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 2nd Rehabilitation session and 3rd infusions.

DAY 6: Rest day in the hotel, in contact with her Patient Manager.

DAY 7: Morning pick-up by her Patient Manager, 3rd Rehabilitation session, 4th infusions and 2nd visit with the Rheumatologist Professor.

DAY 8: Rest day in the hotel, in contact with her Patient Manager.

DAY 9: Pick-up by her Patient Manager, check-out, and drop-off at the Venice airport for her trip back home.

Follow up

SEPTEMBER 2021 (4 months after Neridronate treatment): The patient refers to incredible improvement of her skin sensitivity, she is now able to wear long sleeves without being in pain. Her general pain levels have dropped about 50%.

NOVEMBER 2021 (6 months after Neridronate treatment): The patient confirms her skin sensitivity is back to normal, which she is very happy about. Pain levels have dropped a total of 60% since treatment, and she has managed to regain hand mobility, she says her rehabilitation exercises are getting easier and easier and she is now able to hold a pen!

JANUARY 2024 (nearly 3 years after Neridronate treatment): The patient confirms her improvements are lasting, she only gets higher levels of pain during flares up which are much less frequent than they used to. She also announces to the team she has just bought a house with her husband and have been helping with the renovations which she says would have never been possible before the treatment.

Conclusion

The patient came to Italy with the impossibility to hold objects in her affected hand, the pain had reduced her mobility which had become a real handicap. Following the treatment, her pain level dropped 60% and her skin sensitivity came back to normal. The patient is now able to old objects in her hand, and is even helping with the renovations of her new house!
